Restaurant
Set back on a green off the main London Road in the
quaint Kentish spa town of Tunbridge Wells, Thackeray's
occupies a Grade II-listed building of ancient floorboards
and low ceilings.
Thackeray's has recently been subject to a glorious
conversion, which has created two dining rooms that
are cool and modern whilst remaining sympathetic to
the age of the building by its understated elegance.
Ascend the original ancient wooden stairway, two further
private dining rooms, lounge and bar await. These areas
have been imaginatively designed and lavishly decorated
to provide experiences ranging from intimacy to spectacular.
Richard Phillips, chef and co-proprietor creates an
intelligent Modern French menu which sparkles with flavour.
The meticulous preparation and presentation reflects
the elegant atmosphere and surroundings to provide the
ultimate dining experience.

"Located in the centre
of the spa town of Tunbridge Wells. The grade II listed buliding has stunning
interiors and superlative food, wine and service that help create the magical
and memorable dining experience." Giles Coren The Saturday
Times "Thackeray's is one of the most charming and stimulating
restaurants I have seen outside London. The youth of those involved belies the
professionalism with which it is run. The greeting is warm, the atmosphere enchanting
whilst the food sparkles with flavour." Terry Durack The
Independent on Sunday "There is a clear, culinary intelligence
at work here that understands how ingredients work together"
